Fullerton College co-sponsors the Printing Industry Association of Southern California (PIASC) 21st Annual Student Assembly & Mini Trade Show
Over 300 high school students attended this event to compete for cash prizes in contests designed to test their technical graphic skills and to probe their in-depth knowledge of many print-related topics. Only five high schools advanced to the center of the stage to compete in the Academic Challenge Game held May 21, 2009, in the Fullerton College Campus Theater. Dave McCormac, Printing Technology Instructor, served as one of the competition judges.
After the competitions, students visited the mini trade show comprised of industry members and educational institutions and had an opportunity to speak to industry leaders about careers in graphic communications. Lunch was provided for the students, graciously sponsored by industry members.
The event is organized by the RAISE Foundation and is co-sponsored by the California Graphic Arts Educators Association, California Polytechnic State University, Castle Press, Centers for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT), Economic & Workforce Development, Orange County Digital Media Center, Fullerton College, Graphic Arts Club of Los Angeles, Micro Perfect Systems, and PROTRADE, Inc. with RAISE Foundation being the major sponsor.
